The Last of Us Part I – Hometown – Prologue
Prologue
After a cutscene, you’ll get control of Sarah. If you’ve never played a Naughty Dog game before, one thing you should note is that the environments are very detailed. Exploring every little nook and cranny is rewarding and highly encouraged.
To the left of the TV is a birthday card for Joel that she forgot to give him.
In the bathroom next to Sarah’s room is a newspaper. In the original, this contained the only bit of information about where the fungus originated. Apparently, it’s from some moldy crops from South America.
After exiting the upstairs’ bathroom, continue to find the master bedroom with light coming through the slightly open door. You can stand around and watch some excitement if you want.
Downstairs, in the kitchen, you’ll find Joel’s phone. On the fridge is a note Joel left. Read it if you want.
After you’re done messing around, head for the double door’s opposite the fridge to trigger Joel’s return. Wait around a bit longer and you’ll trigger a cutscene. When the drama is over, you’ll be in control of Sarah. However, you can only look around and see the events unfold.
Eventually, your vehicle gets hit and you’re forced to continue on foot. Continue forward and then hang a right at the gas station. On the next street, keep going past the burning building and fire truck until you see another explosion.
After the explosion, look to your immediate left to find a gate. Wait for Tommy to open it for you and then keep going. The path here is linear but if you get confused, just let Tommy go ahead of you and follow him.
All three of you will eventually make it to a bar. Tommy says he’ll hold the infected back while you and Sarah march on ahead. The infected are still coming out the woodwork at this point and you have to run nonstop while they’re right on your heels.
Eventually you’re “rescued” by a soldier and this concludes the first chapter.
